Are you ready for new workplace violence laws?
Senate Bill 1299 in California is changing the way workplace safety is managed in the healthcare system. The State of California passed this law in response to increasing reports of workplace violence against healthcare workers. To date, over 16 states have enacted laws to address workplace violence in healthcare. California also signed AB 2053 into law in 2014. This law requires all State and Government agencies to cover “abusive conduct” also known as workplace bullying, in their harassment prevention training.
The American Safety Compliance and Training Institute (ASCTI) was formed to assist healthcare facilities with meeting the requirements of the above newly implemented laws.
In 2013, the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety reported that incidences of violent crime in hospitals was 25% higher than in 2012. The increasing risk of workplace violence poses a significant challenge for healthcare staff and facilities. ASCTI provides employers, employees, and patients with proactive measures to mitigate these risk.
Unfortunately, incidences of workplace bullying and abusive conduct are issues that must be addressed as well. Everyone deserves to work in a safe, harassment-free environment, and ASCTI can provide training and tools to make this a reality.
The ASCTI team has over 20 years of experience in program development and responding to Cal/OSHA citations. Our aim: To assist healthcare facilities in complying with workplace safety regulations, in a cost-effective manner and reduce on the job injuries.
